Itaru Hirama(1963-) is a photographer who has taken pictures of numerous musicians, including those who took part in Tower Recordsʹ NO MUSIC, NO LIFE. campaign, and is acclaimed for having developed an unprecedented style with his portraitphotos that are so energetic that you can almost hear the music.
Under the theme "Photography and Music," this exhibition brings together over 200 works by Itaru Hirama, who marked his 30th anniversary as a photographer in 2020, including his early works and an enormous number of portraits of musicians, which he shot for the NO MUSIC, NO LIFE. campaign and CD jackets. Furthermore, the 2022 exhibition that was held in Kyoto and Roppongi that attracted a lot of attention has been restructured with new items, such as the Locus Focus series featuring the dancer Min Tanaka, whom he keeps taking photos of as a lifetime pursuit, and works shot at Hirama Shashinkan Tokyo to reacknowledge the major roles played by photography as a place where family memories can be nurtured, to go on display in Shibuya.
