Eight Decades after His Death, Mucha Still Lives Today
Alphonse Mucha(1860-1939) is an artist who defines Art Nouveau. His delicate yet glamourous works created to what some say are "magic of lines" are fascinating, and his so-called "Mucha-style" has impacted artists thereafter. The exhibition supervised by the Mucha Foundation delves into the artist's origins and brilliance of his works through showcasing Mucha's precious works from his childhood, library collection and crafts, designs and illustrations created while in his 20s and posters that created his fame. Furthermore, the exhibition showcases illustrations in literary magazines from the Meiji era, graphic arts that swept over the US and UK in the 1960s to 1970s and modern works of Japanese manga creators and artists that display influence from Mucha's works. It also explores the Mucha-style's evolution through the approximately 250 pieces of work.
This Mucha exhibition is unlike any other and unravels the secrets behind the painter and artist who continues to captivate beyond the times.
